Antitrust - Blue Cross Blue Shield - Litigation over alleged market allocation, suppression of reimbursement rates (US)
Several healthcare groups filed US complaints accusing Blue Cross Blue Shield and its affiliates of illegally conspiring to divide the US into designated “service areas” and allocate those geographic markets among them, preventing them from competing in each other’s service areas. Plaintiffs further challenge BCBS and its affiliates’ agreement to fix reimbursement rates for services providers. The healthcare providers opted out of a previous settlement in a related case against BCBS.
