Antitrust - Meta Platforms - Google - Development of 'ex ante' digital-platform competition codes (Australia)
The Australian government is developing policies to reign in the market power of the world's biggest tech companies through mandatory codes of conduct. The policy development is being managed by the Treasury Department. The laws would give the relevant minister the power to designate platforms or services and impose service-specific obligations, with penalties for failure to comply.
