Antitrust - Swedish Match - Litigation over alleged monopolization of smokeless tobacco market (US)
Swedish Match North America engaged in illegal, anticompetitive acts to limit competition and maintain its monopoly in the market for smokeless tobacco products, according to a US complaint. Plaintiffs claim that Swedish Match engaged in baseless patent infringement litigation to keep out competition for its Zyn product in the US, then agreed to become an affiliate or indirect subsidiary of Phillip Morris for $16 billion.
