Financial Crime - Implementation of Corruption of Foreign Public Officials Act (Canada)
In 1998, Canada's Parliament passed the Corruption of Foreign Public Officials Act to implement the nation’s obligations under the Organization for Economic Cooperation and Development Convention into Canadian law. The CFPOA came into force on February 14, 1999. The CFPOA also responds to Canada’s anti-corruption obligations under the United Nations Convention against Corruption and the Inter-American Convention against Corruption. It is enforced by the Royal Canadian Mounted Police and prosecuted by the Crown.
