Artificial Intelligence - OpenAI - Microsoft - xAI - Elon Musk's claims of unjust enrichment through handling of non-profit status (US)
OpenAI and its chief executive, Sam Altman, were sued by Elon Musk in US district court in California. Musk, the owner of X Corp., alleged Altman secured investments from him by pitching OpenAI as a non-profit that would create safer artificial intelligence. "Altman established an opaque web of for-profit OpenAI affiliates, engaged in rampant self-dealing, seized OpenAI, Inc.’s Board, and systematically drained the non-profit of its valuable technology and personnel," Musk said. Musk alleged multiple violations including unjust enrichment, fraud, federal civil RICO and more and is seeking divestment of "ill-gotten gains."
