China aims to have electric cars become mainstream in the country by 2035, according to a blueprint released in 2020. By then, it seeks to achieve the commercialization of fuel cell vehicles, the large-scale application of highly automated cars and efficient charging networks. Chinese regulators have started working on regulations and standards for connected cars, covering issues including cybersecurity and data protection, and local governments have stepped up policy support to boost the sector.
