Corruption - FCPA Corporate Enforcement Policy - Justice Department (US)

The US Department of Justice on Nov. 29, 2017 made permanent an enforcement program for Foreign Corrupt Practices Act enforcement in which it said companies that self-report suspected violations might receive credit towards lighter penalties. The program contains stipulations, such as identifying individuals who might be involved in suspicious activity. The program has also made use of prosecution declination letters to resolve cases. The pilot program was initiated in April 2016 under the tenure of then-Attorney General Loretta Lynch. The Justice Department has updated and otherwise provided guidance on the policy from time to time.
