Corruption - Anti-money laundering, transparency, bank rules - Senate, FinCEN (US)
A US Senate proposal would require the disclosure of beneficial owners of newly registered corporations in the US. The Improving Laundering Laws and Increasing Comprehensive Information Tracking of Criminal Activity in Shell Holdings (ILLICIT CASH) Act would also require the Department of Justice to provide the Treasury Department with information about the law enforcement effectiveness of anti-money laundering registrations. It would require foreign banks to "produce records in a manner that establishes their authenticity and reliability for evidentiary purposes" and would authorize contempt sanctions for foreign banks that fail to comply.
