Antitrust - Uber - Allegations of misleading consumers over in-app taxi comparison (Australia)

Uber has agreed to pay a consumer-law penalty in Australia totaling $18.36 million over misleading cancellation-fee messages sent to users of their ride-hailing app, as well as information provided by the ride-hailing company's in-app taxi service, Uber Taxi. The company faces a penalty of A$18 million for the misleading cancellation-fee messages and A$8 million for inflating the estimated cost of a taxi, when compared to the price of an Uber ride.
