Climate Change Package

The EU climate change package includes legislation and recommendations to cut greenhouse gas emissions in Europe before the end of 2020. Binding targets to cut greenhouse gas emissions and increase the use of renewable energy are part of the package, along with a non-binding target to reduce energy use. The EU emissions trading system, and "effort sharing" measures to tackle emissions from industries not in the carbon market, are also included.
