Corruption - Mitsubishi Hitachi Power Systems - Foreign bribery of Thai public officials (Japan)

Former executives of Mitsubishi Hitachi Power Systems were arrested for allegedly bribing Thai port authority officials in 2015 to gain access to a pier to unload construction materials for a power plant MHPS was building. Two of the MHPS executives pled guilty to paying 11 million baht, worth around 40 million yen at the time. Ex-CEO Satoshi Uchida has pled guilty, and has appealed his verdict all the way to the Supreme Court. The case is the first application of Japan's newly implemented plea bargain, where the company volunteered information to avoid being indicted.
