Data Privacy & Security - Twitter - X - FTC privacy investigation of Twitter, and X petition to end FTC oversight (US)

The Federal Trade Commission has entered into a 20-year consent agreement with Twitter that requires the San Francisco online social networking company to establish an information security program designed to protect non-public consumer information and submit to outside compliance reviews every other year. The FTC's initial complaint alleged Twitter failed to adequately protect non-public consumer information and prevent unauthorized administrative access.
