IT privacy regulation - Facial Recognition Technology - Federal Trade Commission - National Telecommunications and Information Administration

Regulators such as the Federal Trade Commission and the National Telecommunications and Information Administration are starting to scrutinize privacy issues around the use of facial recognition technology by online social networks, search engines, advertisers and others. With the NTIA starting the process in 2014 of developing a voluntary code of conduct for use to the technology, both agencies are likely to engage in an ongoing scrutiny of the emerging technology amid privacy concerns.
