Antitrust - Brown University - 15 other private US universities - Litigation by former students over alleged price-fixing through financial aid programs
Brown University and 15 other private US universities have been accused of engaging in a price-fixing conspiracy designed to reduce or eliminate financial aid for prospective students. The schools used the same formula to calculate applicants' financial aid, which US law allows them to do only if they don't consider an applicant's financial situation in the enrollment process, the suit alleges. The schools, however, did consider their applicants' abilities to pay as part of the admissions process, the suit alleges.
