Data Security & Privacy - International convention on cybercrime - Ad hoc committee (United Nations)
The United Nations will begin in January 2022 talks set to conclude in early 2024 regarding an international convention on cybercrime. The General Assembly voted in December 2019 to initiate the process by approving resolution 74/247 with 79 countries voting in favor, 60 against, and 33 abstaining. The proposal for a new cybercrime convention was sponsored principally by Russia and opposed by the US and European countries.
