Antitrust - In Re MultiPlan Health Insurance Provider Litigation

Adventist Health System Sunbelt Healthcare filed a US complaint accusing MultiPlan of orchestrating a conspiracy among competing commercial health insurance payors to reduce the reimbursements they pay to healthcare providers for out-of-network healthcare services. According to the complaint, MultiPlan acquired analytic tools designed to calculate reimbursement amounts far less than an insurance company would otherwise pay, and far less than the healthcare provider’s claim for reimbursement, then marketed its suite of tools to its competitors as an “out-of-network cost containment” solution.
