Canada Competition Bureau makes recommendations on AI transparency

( October 5, 2026, 18:09 GMT | Official Statement) -- MLex Summary: Canada’s Competition Bureau released its response to Innovation, Science and Economic Development Canada’s consultation on advancing AI transparency, recommending that transparency support well-functioning competitive markets, obligations should be proportionate and preserve competition, and regulation should focus on harms, not technologies. “Prescriptive, costly, or technically complex requirements may disproportionately burden smaller firms and new entrants while favoring incumbents with greater compliance resources. In this way, poorly designed obligations could increase barriers to entry and reinforce existing market positions,” it said.Statement follows in full. ...
