Singapore floats UN AI safeguards convention, international verification body

Addressing the UN General Assembly on over the weekend, Foreign Affairs Minister Vivian Balakrishnan called for comparable AI testing methods and rapid cross-border reporting of serious incidents, even where governments disagree on regulation. He also sought testing before deployment, limits on autonomous systems and ways to intervene when they behave unexpectedly.
