Thailand says TH-AI Passport data to stay in-country under privacy laws

TH-AI Passport is a government program aimed at expanding access to generative AI and AI-skills training for up to 5 million Thai citizens, offering access to multiple premium AI models through the AiPASS platform. In a statement late Friday, the ministry said prompts and uploaded images, files and audio will be screened and anonymized for sensitive or personal information before being processed by foreign AI providers, which will be prohibited from using the data for other purposes or training their AI models and will not retain it after processing. More than 1.13 million people had preregistered as of Aug. 21, with the system scheduled to begin operating Aug. 31.Statement follows (in Thai)....
