Google files reply in support of dismissing US case over Florida man's suicide

( July 16, 2026, 03:53 GMT | Official Statement) -- MLex Summary: Google filed a reply in support of its motion to dismiss a US complaint over the suicide of a user of its Gemini AI chatbot. Google said plaintiffs can’t make a tort claim based on an alleged “hazard” found in the words and ideas exchanged with a general purpose artificial intelligence model or in editorial judgments about when Gemini should refuse to respond. Additionally, the First Amendment’s protections extend beyond speakers and prevent government interference in the marketplace of ideas and prevent forced censorship of the use of expressive tools like Gemini, the company said.See attached file. ...
