News outlets shouldn't have chance to amend US copyright claims, Microsoft says

( July 10, 2026, 03:51 GMT | Official Statement) -- MLex Summary: The New York Times and a cluster of regional newspapers have not satisfied requirements to amend their copyright complaints against Microsoft, the company said. In the wake of new US Supreme Court precedent, the outlets "seek to add brand new inducement and tailored-to-infringement claims that were long available to them," the company said in its opposition brief. The outlets also cannot point to "newly discovered" evidence, Microsoft said, because "materials on which they rely have been in their possession for over a year, and in most instances, nearly two years."
