South Korea launches market study into AI services sector
( May 21, 2026, 03:38 GMT | Official Statement) -- MLex Summary: Major South Korean and foreign AI services providers will receive questions from South Korea’s competition regulator for a new market study into the artificial intelligence services sector. The Korea Fair Trade Commission said Thursday that the agency launched a market study today and will survey 29 AI service developers and 17 companies providing products or services integrated with AI models to assess their business operations, transactions related to AI service integration, market competition, service practices for consumers and experiences involving anticompetitive or unfair trade practices. After the surveys are completed, the agency plans to publish a policy report titled “AI Downstream Markets and Competition” later in 2026 based on the findings.
