EU countries take position on AI Act changes ahead of crunch-time negotiation

Countries largely oppose integrating AI rules into sectoral laws, but show flexibility on changes to risk classification. Other issues, including deepfake bans, governance powers, grace periods and sandboxes, appear less contentious, with room for compromise.European governments have set out their respective positions on the most controversial aspects of the amendments to the AI law, with the issue of sectoral interplay expected to be the final hurdle to be cleared before a political agreement is reached....
