Former Google AI engineer files reply in support of new trial in US trade secret case

( March 26, 2026, 22:31 GMT | Official Statement) -- MLex Summary: Former Google AI engineer Linwei Ding filed a reply in support of a judgment of acquittal or to grant a new trial in a case accusing him of trade secret theft, saying that the jury did not find 97 of the 112 alleged trade secrets proven beyond a reasonable doubt. “The jury’s verdict is the predictable consequence of a prosecution whose overambitious scope produced fundamental, irreparable evidentiary gaps as to the essential elements of the charged offenses,” they told the judge.
