OpenAI sued in South Korea by top TV broadcasters over training of ChatGPT

( February 24, 2026, 02:43 GMT | Official Statement) -- MLex Summary: South Korea’s top three terrestrial broadcasters have filed a lawsuit against OpenAI, seeking an injunction to halt alleged copyright infringement and claiming damages related to the artificial intelligence giant’s training of the ChatGPT generative AI system. Korean Broadcasting System, Munhwa Broadcasting Corporation and Seoul Broadcasting System — or KBS, MBC and SBS — allege in the suit filed Monday with the Seoul Central District Court that OpenAI unlawfully used their news content to train ChatGPT, the Korean Broadcasting Association said on their behalf. The lawsuit marks the first time the three broadcasters have taken legal action against a global AI company.Statement is attached (in Korean)....
