South Korea enacts law to foster public-sector AI development, use

( January 30, 2026, 05:58 GMT | Official Statement) -- MLex Summary: South Korea’s parliament has approved the Act on the Promotion of Artificial Intelligence and Data-Driven Administration, also known as the Public AI Act, to lay the legal and institutional framework for accelerating AI innovation in the public sector. The law, approved late Thursday, was rebranded and completely reorganized from an existing law on data-driven administration to reflect changes in the national strategy for AI development and use, the Ministry of the Interior and Safety said. It focuses on accelerating the adoption and use of AI in the public sector while ensuring the safety and trustworthiness of AI technologies, it added.Statement is attached (in Korean)....
