South Korea set to enforce law to promote inclusive use of AI, digital tech

( January 21, 2026, 03:01 GMT | Official Statement) -- MLex Summary: South Korea’s Digital Inclusion Act, enacted a year ago with the aim of ensuring that all citizens can equally enjoy the benefits of artificial intelligence and other digital technologies without discrimination or exclusion, will come into effect on Jan. 22 as planned. The act was established based on a shared recognition that existing policies aimed solely at bridging the digital divide are insufficient to prevent the social and economic discrimination that may arise from the rapid development of AI and other digital technologies, the Ministry of Science and ICT said. To comprehensively and systematically promote digital inclusion policies for all citizens and to effectively foster related technologies and industries, the law was enacted in January 2025 by integrating the Framework Act on Intelligent Informatization with three newly proposed bills aimed at achieving digital inclusion.Statement is attached (in Korean)....
