South Korea details economic, AI policy tasks to double growth in 2026

Friday’s announcement was primarily intended to elaborate on, update, or reaffirm policy initiatives the government has unveiled since disclosing details of its 2026 annual budget bill in late 2025. For example, the government now plans to begin construction of a proposed national AI computing center by late 2026, designate a city for self-driving automobile demonstrations, establish a presidential committee to support the domestic semiconductor industry, begin allocating investment from the National Growth Fund and enact special laws for AI-related projects if necessary.
