China rolls out 'AI plus manufacturing' plan to drive industrial upgrade

( January 8, 2026, 06:09 GMT | Official Statement) -- MLex Summary: Eight Chinese authorities have jointly issued an implementation plan for a nationwide “artificial intelligence plus manufacturing” initiative, setting out policy goals to accelerate the integration of AI technologies into manufacturing and support industrial upgrading. The plan released Wednesday by the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology, Cyberspace Administration of China and six other bodies sets out 21 measures across seven areas, including innovation foundations, application-driven empowerment, product breakthroughs, ecosystem building, security governance and international cooperation. It calls for stronger inter-agency and central-local coordination, guidance to curb excessive competition, better use of funding channels, large-scale application pilots, and new monitoring systems to track industry scale and global trends.The statement follows and the plan is attached....
