Global AI safety group rebranding reflects changing focus, South Korea says

By Choonsik Yoo ( December 9, 2025, 07:50 GMT | Insight) -- A global network of AI safety institutes agreed to change its name to reflect the need to realign its priorities amid rapid advances in AI, the head of South Korea’s member institute told MLex. He confirmed an MLex report that the group will adopt the title International Network for Advanced AI Measurement, Evaluation and Science following UK-led calls to move away from the International Network of AI Safety Institutes label. He also said his agency is preparing a “national AI safety ecosystem master plan” ahead of its AI Basic Act taking effect in early 2026.The rebranding of a global network of AI safety institutes to remove “safety” from its title is mainly meant to realign its priorities with the rapid changes in the artificial-intelligence landscape around the world since the network was created a year ago, the head of South Korea’s member institute said....
