South Korea to define IP rights for AI content, standardize industrial data for AI training

( November 27, 2025, 08:55 GMT | Official Statement) -- MLex Summary: The South Korean government will develop standards to determine industrial property rights in AI-generated content, including criteria for assessing AI contributions and clarifying legal status under patent law and design rights. To accelerate AI adoption in the manufacturing sector, the Ministry of Trade and Industry will collaborate with other agencies to standardize industrial and manufacturing data used for AI training. The government plans to launch a data-sharing platform in 2026 and will create standard models for core manufacturing equipment and data processing. In addition, the privacy regulator will streamline the pseudonymization process for low-risk data and permit data reuse and more flexible retention periods where appropriate safeguards are in place.The statement, in Korean, is attached....
