OpenAI will face copyright claim related to book downloads, US judge says

Stein has declined to strike allegations by book authors that OpenAI infringed by downloading their works. "OpenAI’s request to strike allegations related to the so-called 'download claim' is denied because the claim for relief and factual allegations underlying a download theory of infringement were present in the underlying class action complaints before consolidation," Stein wrote. The judge also said the case will encompass products GPT-3, GPT-3.5, GPT-3.5 Turbo, GPT-4, GPT-4 Turbo, GPT-4o, and GPT-4o Mini.See attached file....
