Law firm files antitrust complaint over AI legal-services restriction in South Korea

( October 23, 2025, 08:41 GMT | Official Statement) -- MLex Summary: South Korean law firm SJKP, also known as Daeryun, filed a complaint with the country’s competition regulator on Thursday, alleging that the Korea Bar Association’s restrictions on the use of artificial intelligence in legal services violate competition law. The law firm said it launched its AI-powered legal service, called AI Daeryun, earlier this year but has since faced disciplinary threats from the KBA. Under KBA rules, lawyers are prohibited from advertising legal services that directly involve AI or connect clients to AI consultation services — a ban that effectively prevents law firms from offering AI-assisted legal advice.
