South Korean newspapers demand AI law revision over training-data issues

( October 16, 2025, 06:25 GMT | Official Statement) -- MLex Summary: A trade group representing most of South Korea’s newspapers and news agencies has demanded an amendment to the basic artificial intelligence law before its implementation to include a requirement for AI companies to disclose training data used in AI development. In a statement sent to the National Assembly and the government, the Korean Association of Newspapers said both the law and its subordinate legislation fail to require AI companies to disclose training data and therefore to ensure copyright protection and transparency. The law is set to take effect in late January 2026, and the government is working on the subordinate legislation. The statement, in Korean, is attached....
