China launches crackdown on online abuses in auto industry

( September 11, 2025, 05:22 GMT | Official Statement) -- MLex Summary: Six Chinese government agencies, including those overseeing industry, the internet, public security and markets, have launched a three-month nationwide campaign to crack down on online misconduct in the auto sector, the Cyberspace Administration of China said. The campaign will target practices such as illegal profiteering, false or exaggerated advertising and malicious attacks. Targeted abuses include the use of in-vehicle infotainment systems, generative artificial intelligence and other technologies to build bot networks that churn out fake content, inflate popularity and trends, evade platform oversight and profit illegally.
