US Senator Cruz introduces AI ‘sandbox’ bill, launches federal policy proposal

( September 10, 2025, 13:39 GMT | Official Statement) -- MLex Summary: US Senate Commerce Committee Chair Ted Cruz of Texas is proposing a light-touch artificial intelligence policy framework, starting with the Strengthening Artificial intelligence Normalization and Diffusion By Oversight and eXperimentation, or SANDBOX Act. The bill would allow AI companies to apply for regulatory relief to test or deploy certain products. The bill “embraces our nation’s entrepreneurial spirit and gives AI developers the room to create while still mitigating any health or consumer risks,“ Cruz said in a statement. The framework also seeks to protect free speech, prevent a patchwork of state AI laws and stop AI-driven scams. See release below and files attached....
