OpenAI announces plan to launch parental controls within the month

( September 2, 2025, 17:43 GMT | Official Statement) -- MLex summary: OpenAI published a blog post pledging to roll out certain parental controls for ChatGPT "within the next month." These will include helping parents to link their accounts to their teen's account, set up "age-appropriate" ChatGPT responses for their teens, disable features like chat history and memory, and turn on notifications for "acute distress" moments. "These controls add to features we have rolled out for all users including in-app reminders during long sessions to encourage breaks," the company said.
