Malaysia's central bank releases AI discussion paper

( August 5, 2025, 08:40 GMT | Official Statement) -- MLex Summary: Malaysia’s central bank, Bank Negara Malaysia, has published a discussion paper on artificial intelligence, outlining its regulatory and developmental approach to the technology. In a speech today, Governor Abdul Rasheed Ghaffour said the paper highlights priority areas for industry-led collaboration and the responsible adoption of AI in financial services. The paper tackles areas for AI use, including fraud detection and customer analytics, and highlights risks such as model bias, data leakage and overreliance on third-party tools. The central bank said it welcomes written feedback on the issues raised, including suggestions for specific topics, requests for clarification and alternative proposals, by Oct. 17.
