Anthropic to sign EU AI Act’s code of practice for AI models

( July 22, 2025, 07:50 GMT | Official Statement) -- MLex Summary: Anthropic has said it will sign the EU code of practice designed to demonstrate compliance with the AI Act’s rules on general-purpose AI models that will take effect on Aug. 2. The code is a voluntary initiative developed by independent experts and under the oversight of the European Commission. It still needs formal approval before being recognized as an official tool under the AI law. Mistral and OpenAI have already committed to signing, whereas Microsoft’s Brad Smith reportedly said the company will commit to the code. Meta has said it won’t sign it.Full statement follows....
