OpenAI, UK sign strategic partnership for AI infrastructure, security, justice

( July 21, 2025, 19:22 GMT | Official Statement) -- MLex Summary: OpenAI CEO Sam Altman and UK technology minister Peter Kyle signed a memorandum of understanding⁠ to collaborate on unlocking the economic and societal benefits of AI, according to joint releases. Billed a “strategic partnership,” the US-based AI lab will collaborate on multiple parts of the UK’s AI Opportunities Action Plan, spanning infrastructure, specific geographic AI growth zones, information exchange with the UK AI Security Institute and to support plans to improve public services. The partnership will also explore areas of collaboration in justice, defense, security and education. It follows similar announcements with Anthropic and Google Cloud.Statement follows below.
