Experts call for regular reviews, risk priorities for EU's code for AI models

( July 14, 2025, 10:26 GMT | Official Statement) -- MLex Summary: Independent experts who helped draft the risk-related parts of the EU's code of practice for general-purpose AI models called Thursday for the European Commission to define a mechanism for regularly reviewing the code and for enforcement priorities for new, cutting-edge AI capabilities. In a statement, the experts also urged a revision of the way GPAI models are designated as entailing "systemic risks," notably by increasing the compute threshold. In addition, they suggested the commission's AI Office should see a dramatic increase of staff and resources, create a new foresight team and enhance its international engagement activities.Full statement follows....
