China registers 439 generative AI services under interim rules, says Internet regulator

( July 14, 2025, 06:44 GMT | Official Statement) -- MLex Summary: As of June 30, 439 generative AI services have been registered with the Cyberspace Administration of China, while 233 applications or functions that directly access registered model capabilities via APIs or other technical means have been recorded by local cyberspace administrations, according to the national Internet regulator. This tally includes 93 new generative AI services registered with the CAC — such as those from delivery service provider Shunfeng, mobile phone and EV maker Xiaomi and short-video platform Douyin's wholly owned subsidiary — and an additional 74 services documented by local regulators between April and June.
