Singapore watchdog acts on AI-generated reviews in automotive marketplace

( July 3, 2025, 03:59 GMT | Official Statement) -- MLex Summary: Singapore’s competition regulator has taken action against Quantum Globe, the company behind the “Lambency Detailing” brand, for posting fake five-star reviews generated by artificial intelligence without customer consent. The Competition and Consumer Commission of Singapore, or CCCS, said it found that seven of the reviews on automotive marketplace Sgcarmart were produced using ChatGPT. Quantum Globe admitted to the conduct and has agreed to stop posting fabricated reviews, notify the affected individuals and publish notices for six months disclosing the fake reviews. Its director has also signed an undertaking that he will not engage in or enable unfair practices. In response to the probe, Sgcarmart said it is exploring additional verification measures for customer reviews.The full statement is attached....
