US Senate drops plan to block state AI laws in landslide early-morning vote

Cruz said in floor remarks that his compromise with Tennessee Republican Senator Marsha Blackburn to get it over the finish line had collapsed. Blackburn then introduced her own amendment, co-sponsored by Commerce Ranking Member Maria Cantwell, to strike the AI proposal altogether.
