Cruz releases reconciliation text with 10-year moratorium on state AI regulation

( June 5, 2025, 23:05 GMT | Official Statement) -- MLex Summary: US Senate Commerce Committee Chairman Ted Cruz unveiled his legislative directives for Senate Republicans’ budget reconciliation bill, arguing it would reduce deficits by more than $40 billion over the next decade, boost the economy, and improve infrastructure. Under his plan, US states would not be allowed to receive funds from the Broadband, Equity, Access, and Deployment (BEAD) Program unless they "temporarily" pause the enforcement of any law or regulation "that limits, restricts, or otherwise regulates artificial intelligence models, artificial intelligence systems, or automated decision systems entered into interstate commerce over the next 10 years."See document attached: ...
