Websites that make deepfake porn shut down, San Francisco city attorney announces

( June 2, 2025, 18:21 GMT | Official Statement) -- MLex Summary: Website owner Briver has agreed to a permanent injunction prohibiting it from operating websites that help users create artificial intelligence-generated deepfake pornography, San Francisco City Attorney David Chiu announced. Briver also agreed to pay $100,000 in civil penalties as part of the city's ongoing lawsuit and investigation against websites that create and distribute AI-generated deepfake porn, Chiu said. “While generative AI holds enormous promise, these website operators are engaged in blatant sexual abuse and must be stopped," Chiu said.
