UK 'human vs AI' evidence review experiment prompts call for further study

( April 23, 2025, 12:33 GMT | Official Statement) -- MLex Summary: A UK research project that pitted two researchers, one with access to AI tools and one without, found similar outcomes in terms of quality, the team behind it says. The Behavioural Insights Team, a social enterprise, worked with the UK culture and science ministries to investigate the "robustness and reliability of using generative AI to help produce rapid evidence reviews." It found the AI-assisted review took less time but its report required more revisions. Each approach also used very different sets of evidence. AI capabilities may have improved since the project took place early last year, the project leaders said, recommending "that more work be undertaken to understand how and when AI can be implemented in evidence reviews."The report is attached....
