Two EU countries probe AI Act’s bans, but legal challenges loom

These investigations have begun despite the law's penalty regime not taking effect until August 2025 and enforcement powers not being granted until August 2026. This misalignment in the AI regulation timeline could lead to legal challenges if fines are issued before the enforcement chapter is legally effective. The commission has acknowledged potential legal uncertainties and is seeking ways to provide clarity.
