NetChoice supports judgment against California deepfake election content laws

( March 28, 2025, 15:19 GMT | Official Statement) -- MLex Summary: NetChoice told a US federal judge that the California “deepfake” election campaign law would unconstitutionally replace websites’ private content-moderation decisions with government compulsion to censor political speech. It filed a brief in support of a summary judgment against the law. “The potential for manipulation or error in moderating political speech at the government’s behest is greatly increased, as moderators risk inadvertently suppressing speech that is critical or satirical, yet constitutionally protected from government incursion,” it argued.See attached file. ...
