China greenlights digital-economy pilot zones in seven regions

( March 13, 2025, 08:14 GMT | Official Statement) -- MLex Summary: China's National Data Administration has approved the establishment of pilot zones for innovative digital-economy development in seven regions, including Tianjin, Xiong'an New Area in Hebei Province, Shanghai, Jiangsu Province, Zhejiang Province, Guangdong Province, and Sichuan Province, amid a digital economy push by the government. These zones will tackle five key issues hindering digital-economy growth, such as reforming the market-oriented allocation of data elements, optimizing data-infrastructure layout, and achieving breakthroughs in critical digital technologies.
